“It’s been a long, long journey…and we are incredibly enthused to share that the journey towards a brand new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is within the foreseeable future – it’s going to happen!”, said Kevin Antonides, chair of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation. “We are pleased to announce that we will be kicking off a new campaign. It gives me great pleasure to announce Andrew Smith as our Campaign Chair. The community will benefit from his willingness to serve and the strengths he will bring to lead the campaign onwards.”
Andrew Smith is long time Lincoln resident, has served on both the hospital and foundation boards respectively, and currently chairs the hospital’s Community Advisory Committee. Andrew is an award-winning investment management and financial planning professional, with over 20 years of experience in his field.
One of Andrew’s early memories of West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is being stitched up in the emergency, by the late Dr. J. King, after a running incident with his sister. Andrew recalls, “While running after my sister, I ran right through the patio door. Unfortunately, I never caught her! I suppose it was because she was older than me! It’s incidents like this that remind me of why I truly appreciate the good health care provided to our community, my family and I.”
Andrew believes it is very important to give back to the community and has enjoyed serving in various volunteer roles. “The support of the community always amazes me. I am looking forward to a top-notch hospital with exceptional care. It’s time to win this campaign!”, stated Andrew.
The projected local share to build a new West Lincoln Memorial Hospital is $60 million. “It has been good to see all four of our local municipal and regional governments come together and consider their commitment to the local share need. This journey has been more like a marathon versus a sprint, and we are down to the last kilometre. Our success has been because of the hardworking people involved, and their heart of service. For this we give thanks and wish to express that we need everyone’s help to get us across the finish line!”, Andrew stated.
