Today an incredible milestone for WLMH has been achieved. Accomplishing this feat is only possible through the generous support of many individuals and companies who value the importance of healthcare and desire giving back to help serve others. Today was an opportunity to express our heartfelt gratitude for the support given to achieve having a CT Scanner in our local community hospital! Thank you to everyone who participated in making this project happen….these words were expressed by our governing board chair, Kevin Antonides at the CT Launch event which took place over Zoom today.
The many attendees were able to enjoy a variety of speakers and videos capturing the importance of having a CT Scan as part of our diagnostic suite of services. The fundraising goal for the CT Scan is a part of our overall capital campaign for the new hospital build and equipment. The funding of this very important piece of equipment is just over $1.3 million. This vital piece of equipment will be moved into the Diagnostic Services Centre of the new hospital which will be sometime near the end of 2024; providing seamless care, right here, close to home to many patients. We know that over 6,000 scans per year or 16 plus scans are projected to occur in a day at West Lincoln.
Leslie Gauthier, Vice-President, Clinical Support Services and Surgery, Hamilton Health Sciences said “This is a historic day for patients at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital and the larger West Niagara community. The WLMH CT will bring care closer to home for many patients, significantly improving timely access to care and results; at the same time relieving some demand at other hospital sites in the region for these important procedures. We are extremely grateful for everyone who has contributed toward making this possible, and we excited for our staff and physicians to have this important tool to enhance the high-quality care already provided at the site.”
